Prof. Dr. Aslı Özkırım has been working on honey bees for 26 years at Hacettepe University, with MSc and PhD research focused on honey bee diseases, supported by extensive experience in national and international projects, high-impact peer-reviewed publications, and invited presentations. Since 1998, her laboratory has analyzed more than 100,000 samples submitted by beekeepers from all regions of Türkiye, and she has organized 534 beekeeper meetings in 81 locations, providing science-based training on bee health and bee products. She is the founder of the ApiTURroute platform, through which she has established nine apitourism routes showcasing Türkiye’s regional beekeeping traditions and bee product diversity, and has actively advanced Apitourism and Apiwellbeing through project-based initiatives, including an application to the EcoFuture program. She is also the author of an Apitourism-focused article published in EBA Magazine, contributing to the dissemination of bee-based tourism and wellness concepts at the European level. She has served as General Secretary of the 45th Apimondia Congress (İstanbul, 2017), former Vice President and Board Member of COLOSS, and is currently President of the Bee Health Scientific Committee of the European Beekeeping Association (EBA). She is a member of Scientific Committee of TUGET. Her work is driven by the goal of building a strong and sustainable bridge between science and beekeepers while promoting Onehealth-oriented and value-added applications of bee products. She has 2 patents and 1 innovative commercial product against Varroa destructor an ectoparasite of honey bees.
