Dr. Hicran Demir Usan, MD, is an Assistant Professor at Yüksek Ihtisas University Faculty of Medicine, Ankara, Türkiye. She is also the founder and medical director of a private clinical practice specializing in chronic musculoskeletal pain and integrative rehabilitation.

With over two decades of clinical and academic experience, her work focuses on combining conventional rehabilitation with evidence-based complementary approaches, contributing to the development of patient-centered and multidisciplinary treatment models. She has extensive expertise in acupuncture, osteopathy, aromatherapy, and reflexology, and serves as a certified trainer in these fields within the official certification programs of the Turkish Ministry of Health. In this role, she actively contributes to physician education and the standardization of integrative medicine practices.

Dr. Usan’s academic and clinical interests include chronic pain management, fascia and osteopathic medicine, integrative oncology, women’s health, and functional approaches to chronic disease, with a particular focus on complex and multifactorial conditions. Her research explores the role of genetic and epigenetic mechanisms in integrative medicine and chronic pain, supporting the development of personalized treatment strategies. She previously served as a Research Fellow at Maastricht University, where she contributed to research in musculoskeletal diseases.

She has presented her work at numerous international congresses and was awarded the Young Scientist Award at the ICMART World Congress (Amsterdam, 2023) for her research on acupuncture in post-traumatic stress disorder. She is a member of the International Council of Medical Acupuncture and Related Techniques (ICMART), The Istanbul Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine Association and the Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Through her academic, clinical, and educational activities, she contributes to the advancement of evidence-based integrative medicine at both national and international levels.
