Academic Profile
Dr. Golshan Zare earned her PhD in 2012 from the Department of Systematic Botany at the Hacettepe University Graduate School of Science and Engineering. Following her doctoral studies, she conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Vienna, Department of Botany and Biodiversity Research in Austria.
Her primary areas of expertise include medicinal plants and parasitic plants. Her research focuses extensively on the flora of Türkiye, medicinal and nectariferous plants. She has conducted comprehensive taxonomic and ecological investigations on various plant groups native to Türkiye.
With an extensive and diverse academic portfolio, she has authored numerous scientific articles published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, and has contributed to various book chapters. She has also served as a researcher in a wide range of scientific projects supported by TÜBİTAK and various public/private institutions. Furthermore, she contributes as both an author and an illustrator to the “Illustrated Flora of Turkey” project.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Zare is an enthusiast of scientific plant illustration, nature trekking, and botanical photography.
