Prof. Dr. IFFET IREM TATLI CANKAYA

She graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Pharmacy in 1996. In 1997, she began her tenure as a research assistant in the Department of Pharmacognosy, where she subsequently earned her Master of Science (M.Sc.) in 1999 and her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 2004. She was appointed to the rank of Associate Professor in 2009 and achieved the title of Professor in 2014, specializing in the fields of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Botany. Throughout 2000–2002, 2004, and 2012, she conducted advanced research at the National Center for Natural Products Research and the School of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi, USA. Additionally, within the framework of faculty exchange programs, she served as a visiting scientist at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Lille-2 (France) in 2006; the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at Lublin Medical University (Poland) in 2014; and the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alabama (USA) in 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, she served as a consultant and primary researcher for the TÜBİTAK-MAM project focused on the “Development of Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products”. She has held memberships in the Scientific Commissions for Phytotherapy and Homeopathy within the Turkish Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, including the Approval Commission for Dietary Supplements. Furthermore, she serves as a member of the Hacettepe University Ethics Committee for Cosmetic Clinical Research and as the Deputy Director of the Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT) Center. On an international level, she is an appointed expert for the European Pharmacopoeia, specifically within the 13A and 13B Expert Groups (Herbal Drugs and Herbal Preparations) and the Working Group on Homeopathic Products. She also serves as a member of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Expert Panels. She is married and is the mother of one child.
