Biosketch

Prof. Dr. Levent ÖZTÜRK is one of the renowned sleep researchers and music therapists in Turkey. Besides works on the consequences of sleep deprivation, he has been studying music in therapy. He is the author of book “Makamdan Şifaya (From Musical Modes to Healing)” which is accepted the first evidence-based music therapy book in Turkey. He is also a member of Music Therapy Scientific Board which was established in 2016 by the Ministry of Health. Dr. Öztürk is the founder and the lead chair of Society for Applied Music Therapies (UMTED) in Turkey. He is a member of TÜSEB Project Development Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Öztürk received his bachelor degree in medicine from the İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine and completed his PhD work at Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine. He worked at Kadir Has University for two years as a lecturer. In 2003, he started to work for Trakya University as assistant/associate professor. During this time, he founded the first sleep disorders unit and sleep laboratory in the region. In 2009, he became full-time professor. Besides several best presentation awards in scientific congresses, he received the young scientist award of Trakya University Senate (2008). He worked for Balkan Medical Journal as the editor-in-chief until 2012. He published 6 books, 32 book chapters, 82 peer-reviewed articles (citations=1823, h-index=21), presented 138 communications in congresses, received 13 awards and honors. Dr. Öztürk is currently tenure at the department of physiology at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine.
